In my hospital bag

I had started to pack my hospital bag from about 28 weeks gestation as you never know what might happen,  it didn’t help that I has a bit of a scare whilst at work as my underwear were a bit on the wet side and I didn’t know if it was my waters trickling,  I peed myself or if I was just really sweaty down there from sitting down on the tills.
So anyways here is what I put into baby’s bag

  • 4 short sleeved grows size 0-3months
  • 3 short sleeved grows size tiny baby
  • 3 long sleeves grows size 0-3 months
  • 3 long sleeves grows size tiny baby
  • 6 sleeper suits size 0-3 months
  • 1 pack of newborn size 1 nappies
  • 2 blankets
  • 5 hats
  • 3 scratch proof mits
  • Cotton wool pads
  • Coming home outfit

I think that was it for Damon’s bag, as I didn’t know how big Damon was going to be I packed tiny baby just to be on the safe side, quite lucky I did as a couple came in on my 2nd night after having a little girl and she was soo tiny they hadn’t really prepared anything as they were going to get someone to bring their bag down but little babe was quite a sicky baby, they had ran out of clothes for her after her throwing up so I gave them all the clothes that wouldn’t fit Damon to them to see them through till someone came down πŸ™‚

For my bag I did only have a few things in them but once I knew about having a section I increased the amount I was taking due to not knowing how long I would be in hospital for.  So here is my list

  • Wash bag that includes shampoo, conditioner, body wash, wash cloth, toothbrush, toothpaste and a hair brush
  • Lots of maternity pads
  • Breast pads
  • Nipple cream
  • 3 packs of oversized full brief knickers
  • 2 maternity/nursing bras
  • 2 maxi dresses
  • Sandles
  • Slippers
  • 4 pairs of socks
  • Coming home outfit
  • 5 night shirts
  • Maternity pillow
  • Dressing gown
  • Lip balm
  • Blue Poweraide/ lucazade drinks to help keep your sugars up
  • Some snacks

That’s all I can remember for myself, but I did over pack with what I had needed as my stay in the hospital was only 2 nights, it would of been only 1 if I didn’t insist on staying longer as I wasn’t comfortable with breastfeeding just yet and wanted to make sure there wasn’t anything wrong with his latch before I left.

Sorry the post is a day late but I have came down with a stinker of a cold and its knocked me out a bit.
Hope you have had a good week so far πŸ™‚

  1. It’s actually funny how everything is different in different countries! Here in Finland, you can have nappies & clothes for the baby at the hospital, so basically, all the clothes you’ll need for the baby are the ones you’re wearing for him/her when you go home. Nappies are something you don’t get to take home, though, but there are plenty of them at home already haha.
I should definitely get packing since I haven’t done it yet! πŸ˜€

  2. It was lucky that you brought those clothes for the little baby that was sick, poor wee thing hope she wasn’t too ill and got home soon after. I suppose it’s better to take too much than too little in your hospital bag as you don’t always know how long you will be in for. Damon looks like had loads of hair when he was born πŸ™‚

  3. I’m also from Finland like Jasmin. In here the hospital offers everything you and the baby need during the stay. Our government also sends you some clothes and equipment for the baby. This system here is quite unique I think. πŸ™‚
